The type of metal that you plan on cutting will influence your purchase decision as well. Miller plasma cutters work according to three cutting principles: (1) the rated cut, (2) the quality cut, and (3) the sever cut. The rated cut makes an incision at 10 in/minute. The quality cut makes an incision slower than a rated cut, but it cuts thicker metals. The sever cut makes an incision in the thickest of all metals and as a result, may need cleaning. None of these cuts make a Miller plasma cutter difficult to set up or use.
